Catalyst Power Completes Cogeneration Project for Massachusetts Airport Hotel
Repowered onsite combined heat and power (CHP) system delivers 15% in contracted savings and 24/7 resilience for an always-on hospitality property—with no upfront capital
BOSTON, MA. June 8, 2026 — Catalyst Power Holdings LLC ("Catalyst," "Company"), an independent integrated provider of retail power and cleaner energy solutions for the commercial and industrial sector, has completed a repowered combined heat and power (CHP) installation at a 275+ room Massachusetts airport hotel. The onsite system generates electricity and recovers waste heat to support the hotel's around-the-clock operations, including domestic hot water for guest rooms and laundry, space heating across guest and common areas, and HVAC and food service loads. CHP systems, also known as cogeneration systems, are designed to produce heat and electricity simultaneously from the same energy source and can reach up to 90% thermal efficiency by recovering otherwise wasted thermal energy, reducing fuel consumption and emissions compared to conventional separate generation.
"Hotels run 24/7 and have zero tolerance for downtime, which makes them an ideal fit for cogeneration; but it also makes traditional infrastructure upgrades hard to execute," said Gabriel Phillips, CEO of Catalyst Power. "This project shows what's possible when you take CapEx out of the equation. The hotel modernized its central plant, locked in long-term savings, lowered its emissions profile, and didn't have to disrupt guests or commit a dollar of capital to do it."
The repowered system includes a 75 kW CHP module, two MMBtu/hour domestic hot water boilers, and six instantaneous indirect water heaters (0.82 MMBtu/hour). Together, these systems are projected to generate more than 450 MWh of electricity annually, recover approximately 3,000 MMBtu of thermal energy, and deliver 15% contracted savings. Catalyst Power retains end-to-end ownership and handles installation and ongoing operations.
Catalyst Power cogeneration projects typically replace or upgrade major boiler room equipment, including boilers, water heaters, and chilled water systems. These upgrades are complemented by the implementation of a modular, "inside the fence" cogeneration system. Catalyst Power's suite of solutions integrates retail electricity with complementary onsite technologies, including cogeneration, energy storage, and solar, to help commercial and industrial businesses improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance energy resilience with zero capital expenditure.
